Antwerp native Mortier (DJ Mortier) started experimenting with music from a very early age. Growing up just 10km from Tomorrowland, the world-renowned Belgian EDM festival, music heavily shaped his youth. His biggest influences include Diplo, Major Lazer, and classic 90’s favorites Tiesto and Faithless. What began as a self-taught experiment soon became an essential medium for expression.
A creative at heart, Mortier studied architecture in Bruges. During university, he played gigs with fellow DJ and friend D Moor. After two years the Belgian artist took some time off the music scene. It wasn’t until he moved to Barcelona in 2015 to make connections & learn the language that he began playing again.
Mortier enjoys exploring different sounds in unique settings. He combines different genres of dance with electronic music, from House to Hip-Hop, Moombahton, Brazil Funk, Afrobeats, and more.
While quarantined in 2020, Mortier began publishing his Deep & Dirty Radio, a weekly podcast of mixed tapes. No longer confined, Mortier evolved his Deep & Dirty Radio on the road, including another of the artists’ creative disciplines: audiovisual production. Using drone & video, Mortier captures stunning outdoor settings to match his sets.
His mission? Making people happy. Far from the dark underground nightclub setting, Mortier specializes in curating a fresh outdoor rave atmosphere where people can move, dance, and share in nature. Combining his passions for music, sports, and community, Mortier organizes his signature Hike & Rave events in the sunny city of Barcelona.
